About

Tel Aviv-born singer-songwriter and pianist Florie Namir (Pron. fló-ri na-mír) offers a refreshingly vibrant blend of 1940’s American jazz vocal stylings fused with classic pop music influences. After a decade spent in Boston, MA, she moved to London where she created an immediate impact; her effervescent song “Mornings” won The UK Songwriting Contest in February 2021 in the Jazz category.

Florie’s songs are anchored in real-life events through people she has met and situations encountered. Her individual and captivating view of life is seen through the lens of a long-term expat. Lyrically she presents snapshots of moments and emotional impact, wrapped in sophisticated yet irresistibly catchy melodies. Her musical life – from fronting a rock-soul band in Israel to singing and writing for an Eastern-European folk group in Boston and even some opera singing – has given rise to a rare and blossoming talent.

Having released a debut acoustic EP, In My Room, back in 2012 Florie went on to achieve her PhD in Composition and Theory while living in Boston and has won awards and honours as a classical composer. Her focus now is firmly back on songwriting and performing, combining graceful elegance with a jazz club ambience. Her music has drawn the attention of BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson while her new five-track EP, I Wanna Be in Love is gaining wide approval by Atwood Magazine, Sinusoidal Music and others. A self-release with the kind support of her fans, the record showcases her own arrangements and production and features a group of gifted musicians from the USA, Japan and UK.

The opening song, “Far, Far Away” sees Florie ready to embrace a career as a contemporary singer-songwriter fully, while modestly balanced by hopeful expectation: “Tomorrow I’m starting the rest of my life.”

“I guarantee, if someone sent that on the radio with Regina Spektor’s name on the cover, it would be all over the airwaves”
Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6

“A breath of fresh air”
Neil March, Trust The Doc Show
“perfect mixture of charm and elation”
Tony Hardy, Fifty3.net, Glastonbury Festival Judge

“I’d like more Florie please, you made me smile…”
Marina Florance, Fresh On The Net
